Master's program Saxophone Jazz

Building on the basic jazz-specific knowledge acquired in the Bachelor's program, more attention is paid to the personal orientation of the student. Assuming a profound general education, the student should be encouraged to be as artistic as possible. The broadening of the musical horizon, design of an individual repertoire as well as own compositions are important teaching objectives of this course. In line with the deepening of knowledge in improvisation or ensemble and orchestral playing, the understanding of jazz as a lively, innovative art form should also stimulate a questioning of traditional norms in order to get closer to the ideal case of a creative improvisation / composition beyond the interpretation of already existing patterns. The written work or CD production to be completed at the end of the course should adequately document this awareness.
